Digital Poster Printing

Laser ink jet printers can handle printing as much as 6000 A4 pages each hour determined by the concentration of the graphic being printed and therefore are faster than ink jet technology. This will make Laser ink jet printers well suited for medium runs of A4 flyer posters. Laser ink jet printers contain an interior Raster Image Processor (RIP) which stores the page or image data sent from the computer and uses this data to print from. An interior laser uses the saved data to produce an electrostatic image on the turning drum that toner is used towards the paper passing with the machine. The paper then passes via a 200C fusing unit that fuses the toner towards the paper. Full colour laser ink jet printers normally use four toner colours – cyan, green, yellow and black (CMYK) using the more prevalent types restricted to the paper size and thickness they are able to print onto. Also, the price of borderless or ‘edge-to-edge’ digital laser poster ink jet printers is prohibitive thus a lot of companies print posters with a minimum of an 8mm whitened border round the printed image. Laser ink jet printers produce excellent results and therefore are relatively colour-fast, however toner won’t endure creasing or folding and can crack can spoil the look.
