Celebrating 27 Years of Excellence

 This month we extend a big congratulations to our team member Misti Mayo in honor of her 27-year company anniversary! 

Misti originally started with Talent Groups' legacy brand The InSource Group in March of 1997, and currently operates as a Senior Business Development Manager for the HIT Division. Throughout her entire tenure, Misti has remained motivated, hardworking, and dedicated to both her career and family life. She is known around the office as a powerhouse in sales who works hard and sees results. Misti’s passion and dedication to her profession shine through her efforts every day, and truly make her an inspiration to work with. 

We recently asked Misti a few questions about her career, and she was kind enough to share the following:

What was your background before joining the Talent Groups (legacy InSource Group) team? 

I worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) [now HP] right out of college. I Thought if I could be successful there, I could make it anywhere. As for all you young folks, EDS was Ross Perot’s company. I was in corporate training working with managers on how to give Counteroffers, and also did Technical Writing on a large banking application. I then left to get into IT Recruiting. I was trained to work a full desk (candidate and client side) which gives you just a priceless perspective. 

What are some of your career highlights? 

The highlights of my career, so far, have been centered around the long-term relationships with individuals and organizations. 

Any advice or wisdom to share with fellow colleagues? 

Even when you’re not feeling it, go do your thing to the best of your ability. You are not working to please yourself; you are there to help others. We change the hiring managers lives and our candidates lives by improving the quality of their work lives. 

What are some of the biggest lessons learned in your career? 

“Seek to understand. People do things because they seem logical at the time.” AND “The small things are the big things and people DO remember.” 

What is your favorite part of the job? 

I love it when I reconnect with someone I’ve worked with early on in my career and they ask me to assist them in building their teams. 

What do you do to unwind while not working? 

Travel, reading, and working puzzles. I have a puzzle going at all times. 

Do you have any other involvements outside of work that bring you joy? 

I have twin daughters who are in college in TN. I have a yellow Lab and I have been the coordinator and Bible Class Teacher for Toddlers for 20 years.

Any final words to pass along to the team?

We can all do hard things!
